BestPark reinvented travel parks and services after seeing a new demand for motor holidays. Inspired by modern travel parks abroad, the founders of BestPark created a franchise model and introduced digital services to appeal to a new kind of holiday-maker in Finland.
Electricity, fresh water and waste disposal - travellers need specific services to keep their trip running smoothly. Yet, the founders of BestPark were surprised by how difficult it was to get more information before their arrival. Parks were inconveniently located in remote areas, whereas modern travellers wanted locations closer to the city centre with good travel connections.
Taking inspiration from abroad, where a more modern type of travel park was gaining popularity, BestPark saw the opportunity to bring the concept to Finland. "When new travel parks open in central locations, we attract new enthusiasts," says Matti Korkiakoski, Business Director of BestPark.
BestPark’s new concept involved franchising its brand and building amenities and services for a modern holiday park. They wanted all services within the park to be semi-automated so travellers could book online, gain automated access to the park, and use common amenities like showers and saunas via a digital platform. IONA helped BestPark create an intuitive digital platform that customers, staff and park owners use across 50 short-term stay areas near cities and attractions.
IONA helped BestPark realise its vision for state-of-the-art automated holiday parks. Our developers used (Serverless, S3, RDS) and React to create a custom-built digital platform. The new platform features everything you need, including park management, slot management and dynamic pricing tools, integration with the automated gate system, accounting systems and advanced reporting tools. The booking engine is mobile-friendly and easy to use, and the platform is endlessly scalable.
The BestPark founders were thrilled with the result, and local areas are reaping the benefits of tourism: "The fast-moving project attracted the interest of local entrepreneurs, and in the wake of the travel park, more new services were added to the area. The increased service offering has attracted a lot of vehicle tourists to Vanajavesi," says Akaa city manager Antti Peltola.
