Aquaction is the national market leader in competitive swimming attire and accessories in Finland. Well known within the competitive swimming industry, Aquaction wanted to increase their brand awareness outside the Finnish niche and enter the European-wide digital market.
Aquaction (then Aquanetti) had recognised that their old e-commerce store and brand was limiting business growth, as it did not come across an international brand or convey their broad expertise in swimming.
We approached the challenge by designing a credible, fresh brand and highly converting e-commerce store, helping Aquaction take the plunge and enter the international swimming gear market.
Having benchmarked Nordic competition we found out that many global and national swimming accessory competitors are under-serving their clientele through unintuitive and slow e-commerce stores. Respectively, larger sports retailers had broad selections but were lacking expertise within the industry to give good customer support and recommendations. Hence, the European market had an opening for a modern, strong brand with a high-performance e-commerce store.
In order to reach international markets, the Aquanetti brand had to go through an extensive makeover. Iona’s designers created a new visual identity and name to connect the brand with its core clientele in Finland and globally. The new name, Aquaction, was influenced by water sports, the element of water and fun for all ages.
A growing business requires an equally capable e-commerce store. Aquaction’s old eCommerce platform was outdated, had bad UI and required constant patching for security and providing limited payment & shipping options. We provided a fresh start by creating a new Shopify store to increase performance and reduce Aquaction’s busy-work by providing turnkey integrations for marketing, logistics, payments and inventory management.
